Deepak Chopra wrote “Our life is a timeline of choices. When you expand your awareness seemingly random events will seem tofit into the larger purpose.”
When I was young I had no idea what I would be doing in my near future, so I definitely had no idea about this time of my life.During my growing up years I lived in a small city and as many of you can relate to there didn’t seem to be much choice of jobs or careers for women, and it wasn’t a time of much change.
At the time, I never really found my spark for the future,
so like many others I just got a job.

I remember years later after a few jobs, moves and children I liked to make fancy meals and I thought that I’d like to write a cook book. Then someone said, there were already lots in the store, why would you want to do one, so unfortunately I just let it go.
I wish I had tried.
It would have been fun and even if it didn’t work out it would have given us lots of great food to eat and share.
So I continued on with work, family life and found other things I liked to do when time allowed.
One was to draw designs of homes.
I didn’t like where I lived so I’d spend hours thinking and designing what I would like.
I also made stain glass jewelry, sewed my clothes for work, made teddy bears, walked a lot, and after repeated requests from my daughter, our house favorite and old family recipes were eventually typed up.
I guess all these things kept my creative side busy and looking for the next thing.
Since then my life has changed so much.
My retirement activities have led me on a different unforeseen path that still totally amazes me.
Where did all this come from?
It’s funny now looking back how one thing leads to another. The drawing of house plans led me to work on the design of our current home, and though my books are not cook books, I did initially refer to the individual meditations as recipes that had to fit together.
The making of the jewelry and teddy bears led me to selling products I made, which I am again doing. My stress and sore back etc led me to yoga, and yoga led me to writing, other healing practices and so much more.
Now the world is overflowing with choices for work and activities. It is full ofpossibilities and you never know what will lead you to that next thing.
And if you want to ...
You can keep your spark going by discovering how to make something old or forgotten,
become new to you again!

You've heard it before.
We’ve all had those times when we heard or read a few words, lines, or a story that for some reason stayed with us.It was our time to hear the message, it clicked in some way.
It makes perfect sense ...
A few of mine provided me with things I already knew but sometimes the message needs repeating or needs to be given by someone else to be really noticed, heard, and felt.
This time it sinks in and holds on!
Here are four that became part of my living, sharing, and my growing. Now they can be part of Yours.
Live More
Several years ago I went to a great young hairdresser. I knew she had been sick but she was better, back to work part time, and she was excited to finally be going away for a week vacation in Mexico.
One day she told me that she didn’t want to get better to work more, shewanted to get better so she could live more! A couple months later her illness returned and she quickly passed.
New Romance
At a class on celebrating the poet Rumi, I partnered with a wonderful lady. We had lots of fun talking about the poems and when we got to one of the love poems I mentioned something about when someone falls in love it doesn’t matter what age they are they become so happy, full of life, and they want to tell everyone about theirnew love.
After class she said how true that was as she was in her early eighties and now had a new love in her life. She sparkled as she told me that even though they didn’t live in the same town they visited as much as they could, and that they had so much to tell each other as they didn’t know how much time they had. About six months later, I saw in the paper that she had passed after a very brief illness.
Reconnecting
Years ago Iwas talking to a friend about how to stay in contact with friends and family when we are all living in different places. She told me she had been reconnecting with a much older sister that she didn’t know very well due to their age differences and each living in different parts of the country.
She said she started to call her sister on a regular basis and at first they didn’t have anything to talk about. Then she said, the more she called and they talked the more they had to talk about.
Focusing on the Now
We visited an elderly couple quite frequently many years ago. They had a very spread out family and years later at her funeral a nephew who was doing the service told us about how she enjoyed each time someone visited and how she focused on the time they had to spend together, not the time in between. He said there were never any feelings of guilt for not visiting more and his memories would always be of her generous love and welcoming!
