Today you can Bundle up, relax and let someone else drive.

A short music video for this last week of 2021.

"Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson & His Pops Concert Orchestra

How many words in the Song did You remember?

Love the old pictures and I felt like being in the middle of a Norman Rockwell magazine about even older times.

We enjoyed a few winter sleigh rides many years ago (but really they were on wagons). It was fun to get out of the house for an activity on a winter night in a park with the kids and then enjoy a campfire.

It's funny how old memories resurface at Christmas time.

That's it for 2021.

See you soon in 2022.

PS. Thank You for connecting with me through another year.

Happy New Year!!!!

Cheers 🍷 !!

Where did the time go - What makes your hours pass like minutes

Here's a quote for us to think about ...

"What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes?
Here lies the key to your Earthly Pursuits."  Carl Jung

Hi & Welcome

It's that time of year for creating new memories and remembering some past ones, even maybe one of those You totally forgot about ...

Those things we did as kids or later often came from Santa's delivery or other gifts you got for Christmas.

The books, bikes, dolls, paint kits, microscope skates clothes tools and more.

Did you make clothes for your doll and learn to sew.

Did you paint by number or learn on your own.

Did you ride your bike to check out the neighborhood or find new friends.

Did you get a musical instrument and learn to play or find out you like to sing or maybe start up a band ...

Did those tools create new hobbies or open up other opportunities.

I still remember those toy trucks, wagons and tiny cars our son got and he's still driving - now big machinery.

I remember my daughter setting her dolls up to teach them something, she's still teaching.

Warning - You may remember lots of things and now have to go shopping.

PS. What are those things where time passes by for You, that doesn't feel like work even if it is ?

Gardening painting baking writing walking drawing pottery reading knitting playing music ... Share some of yours in the comments below.

Have a great day and thank you for your visit.

Not just 1 but 2 good endings to this story.

Old Christmas memories.

We all have them ...

Dona Anderson

Seems funny that the ones when we  were broke or had problems seem to be  the ones that get remembered years later.

Those remember when stories ...

This is one of those.

It was the first Christmas we were married.

We only had one set of little lights so my husband got a small board and put holes in it the shape of a tree for the lights to go in and it lit up our front window.

It looked great and was our only decoration that year.

I remember being so happy he made it for us and we didn't need anything else.

Then on Christmas day we woke up freezing to find out the oil tank for our furnace was empty.

We were suppose to get an auto refill but obviously that didn't happen.

Finding someone to come out with a special delivery on Christmas Day 52 years ago was difficult, but it happened.

We got our oil that afternoon.

While waiting we had the oven on for some heat but living on the prairies, it was still very ... very cold.

Luckily we were going to my parents for supper so all was good, another Happy Ending.

PS. Take care and have a wonderful week ahead.

Do you have some of your own remember when stories to share?

Maybe this one really had 3 happy endings.

Pick one and see what you discover

It's time for another True Treasures

Dona Anderson

What are true Treasures?

I share a lot from my books and True Treasures became a chance for me to share a bit more from a particular meditation.

You can see previous True Treasures posts by linking to the label True Treasures at the bottom of the post.

This one is from Words to Be savored and treasured

#27 on page 75 in  Moving Forward from the Heart.

The meditation starts by asking you to select one thought from the list for your Meditation and see what you discover.

This is not the complete list but you can get a feeling for the intent of the meditation.

*Compliments should not be kept as thoughts, they should be given and also received.

*Some words can mean the same thing, but get a totally different response.

*A friendly greeting or acknowledgement can create a feeling of welcoming and belonging, and let someone know you care.

*Say words that match your happy heart and face.

*Talk about the way you want to be, and use your words to make your dreams come true"

Was this a Rule in your House Too?

Hi, thanks for your visit today.

Dona Anderson

Is Bed making a daily Challenge in your life?

this video went viral

It starts with our needing to make the bed

when we get up.

One task completed.

Check out the comments for this video.

Growing up we made our bed every morning before breakfast and our walk to school.  No it wasn't the 2 miles up hill in a snow storm kind of walk but we did live on the Prairies and the winter was very cold and windy.

There was no not doing it - one task completed.

We had to come home for lunch (only bused kids could stay at school) and after lunch we had to do the dishes before we left to go back to school. Lunch was the big meal of the day so plates, pots, whatever it was, another task completed.

We only had human dishwashers and dryers then.

Then later helping with supper and more dishes, another task completed.

Not fair, I was the youngest and later I was the only one left to help Mom.

We never thought about the dishes, ironing, shopping, house work etc. as tasks completed it was just all part of the normal household activities before we could get back to school, start our homework, go play or whatever it was that day/time of year.

It's funny now looking back how different it was for our kids and us off working and packing the daily lunch or leaving one behind for who's at home.

It's different now with school meals, commuting and what it is where you live but I think the idea of having age related jobs and helping with making the tasks completed sets a good example for us even from a young age.

Have a great day and week ahead.

PS
. Yes I still do make the bed everyday.

But sometimes one of our dogs goes for a nap and messes it up.

Not naming names - Kelsie.

Relax and feel yourself being transported to a place of peace

The Sound of Silence

The Sound of Silence | Simon & Garfunkel (Harp Cover)

Dona Anderson

Thank You beautiful young lady.

When I first heard this version of the song I completely softened and after the last couple of years I guess it was needed.

It was Simple, Beautiful and quickly moved deep into my heart.

I felt like I had angels from above beside me, and reminded me of the angels I had and have here on earth that I'm very thankful for.

PS. I went searching in my book Moving Forward from the Heart to find a few words to finish off this post. I didn't have to go far to find this ending to the meditation, Lullaby of Peace.

Listen to these beautiful notes softly
playing your lullaby, your smooth
soft sweet notes of peace ...

Ancestry results - weren't what we thought

Loss Learning & Confusion

in our Family Tree?

Dona Anderson.

This last year and a half was a time of great stress, loss and I wonder if others have been feeling the need to learn more about their family history too.

How much do we even know about those past generations and what will be taken forward for the future ones.

In the past year I got my results from 2 ancestry places and it's great to see many pages of relatives but I wish I knew more of them.

I guess it would feel better if more current relatives did the test so I'd see more names I knew.

I have great and great great grandparents but I don't know anything about them other than now I have many pages of  2nd 3rd & 4th + cousins.

What was their story, what was their life about going back to Neanderthal times.

I guess after so much loss due to covid and other things we want to connect more, to feel we made it here for a reason. It's our time to be seen.

Ancestry Surprises

My sister got a test several years ago. No surprises and no one else linked to her at the time as a close relative.

Then over the last few years as more people were added to the sight she had an unknown close connection show up.

Loss

Contact was made that lead us to learn about an even closer relative, a half Sister who sadly had passed a few months earlier.

It was a very sad and confusing time of grieving someone we hadn't known about,  and lived not far away.

Thankfully her 2 daughters have been very kind and wonderful to tell us about her life and family with lots of information and pictures. It's something we can continue to share on both sides.

Learning

I sent in my sample for testing to a different ancestry at the beginning of this year and did connect to a name I knew of only because of the other information we received earlier.

My heritage showed up as 93.4 % British and Irish, but not really knowing what that meant.

So all was good - right?

Just for Fun I sent in a another sample to the same site my sister had done.

Then our lives kind of changed again.

Confusion

We grew up believing we were Irish. Dad said.

My first results said I was 93.4% British & Irish.

The 2nd test, said I'm 75% Scottish and only 16 % Irish.

So ringy dingy off to call my sister.

Why didn't you tell me we're Scottish?

Do I have to trade in the shamrocks and green beer now for ...

No, I am not eating Haggis

I've visited Scotland  twice, love it and Ireland is still on my bucket list to go for me and My Dad.

I've only kept 7 old record albums and these are 2 of them so thought I'd share their photo's.

The old days never imagined DNA and the stories and secrets that would show up.

I really don't care what I am.

So now I'm Scottish and used to be a red head, but it's fun to complain a bit.

Do I have to let go of what was said to be my Irish Temper too?

PSKeep loving those still in your life, and find out more about them sooner in case you don't have a later.

3 things You can do to help Heal your Body, Mind & Soul.

 Play  Laughter  Joy

Dona Anderson

Thanks for your visit today.

New posts every Tuesday.

I saved this quote to share with You & todays the day.

Your body cannot heal without play.
Your mind cannot heal without laughter.
Your soul cannot heal without joy.

~Catherine Rippenger Fenwick~
Healing with Humor, educator, therapist, author, speaker.

How many times when you are unwell do you play some kind of game, do a puzzle, card game, craft or other things that you love to do that takes your mind off things and supports your soul.

How many times when you were unwell, sick, had a bad cold, flu, headache, new stitches or whatever it was did you try not to laugh but couldn't help it. You may even put on a comedy show to watch to help you feel better.

How may times did you find Joy in a song, a home cooked meal, a card, flowers, a visit from loved ones or cuddles from your pet.

I imagine it was many times.

A moment to play lets us move onto something that's fun, we can do, control. It fills our face, mind and heart with a smile.

A moment for laughter lets us relax, let our stress & worries soften a bit as it disappears out of our bodies and into the world.

A moment of joy lets us remember all the people and things in our lives that we love, hold dear and want to get back to.

Play ... Laughter ... Joy

PSOften when I've been at a craft faire someone stops by just to have a chat.

I've heard many good stories but mostly ones of sadness, grief, sickness and stress.

Many times it was quite emotional but I could see how the releasing of the story helped them heal a bit that day - their face and shoulders softened a bit to help them breathe.

Sometimes they even came back the next day to chat again.💗

Our Lucy, loves to snuggle.

Take Care have a great day and week.

Have You had one of these Conversations?

About a Dream,

not a night time Dream

the other kind of dream.

Dona Anderson

I'm sure we've all had a similar kind

of conversation.

A moment to exchange what someone else needed to share that was about a worry to them.

About you.

We never know what someone else is thinking, feeling or is a worry to them about others and this one was about us.

This one was from our Daughter about us, her parents.

A few years back my daughter told me that years ago when our dream was to
move here to Vancouver Island she worried about what if something happened to us and we couldn't fulfill our dream.

I told her that was Ok.

I let her know for us at the time what wasn't Ok was if we didn't have a dream, if we didn't have a plan that we were working toward and figuring out would have been worse.

As we had to move several times for Work we wanted to pick that place We wanted to settle down and call Home for when the time came if all went well..

We felt if we were just sitting there with no dream, goal, plan
- that would have been sad.

PS. we did make it here 19 years ago  and my original want to do list to do list was scrapped except for my last entry to learn more Yoga.

I'm very thankful for all the learning and growth that was never imagined or would be done if we didn't live and love it here.

Fun time to pick - What would You be?

9 questions to ask yourself ...

It's hard to pick - can it be more than one.

Dona Anderson

I was flipping through my book Moving Forward from the Heart and came across the meditation What would You be #46 on page 114. I decided to share some of it with you and make it another of our True Treasures.

It's a fun place to pause and let go of that junk in our head for a few minutes.

It's funny how a simple question can be quite hard to answer so I decided to wait until until all the fruits and vegies were sampled over the summer and the colors of the flowers and seasons are still in our minds.

And, OK, to be honest I was having difficulty just picking one for my answer so I figured I can think about it longer or ask myself the question more times so I can pick more things.

There, problem solved.

Anyway here is a shortened version of what's on the page. You can do one or pick a few - whatever you want.

It's just for fun and to get us thinking about things in our everyday life.

Here goes.

If you were a flavour, what would you be?

If you were a color, what would you be?

If you were a fragrance, what would you be?

If you were a shape, what would you be?

a flower ... a season ... a tree ... an animal ... ?

and it ends with

You are You, what will you be?

So ok, who else picked strawberry for flavour?

PS. Next time it will be that peach that I picked off the tree a few years ago that was really juicy, sweet, warm from the sun and oh so perfect.

Or that pear from a roadside market that was so delicious and the juice was running down my face.(oh sorry that's more for a fruit not flavour)

Oops, I guess I should have added Fruit on the list, but I'm covered  - I wrote it down on the page.

Have Fun add in some others
to the list that you think of.

Thanks for your visit and new posts every Tuesday.

Tuesday is our Day.
