Where did the time go - What makes your hours pass like minutes

Here's a quote for us to think about ...

"What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes?
Here lies the key to your Earthly Pursuits."  Carl Jung

Hi & Welcome

It's that time of year for creating new memories and remembering some past ones, even maybe one of those You totally forgot about ...

Those things we did as kids or later often came from Santa's delivery or other gifts you got for Christmas.

The books, bikes, dolls, paint kits, microscope skates clothes tools and more.

Did you make clothes for your doll and learn to sew.

Did you paint by number or learn on your own.

Did you ride your bike to check out the neighborhood or find new friends.

Did you get a musical instrument and learn to play or find out you like to sing or maybe start up a band ...

Did those tools create new hobbies or open up other opportunities.

I still remember those toy trucks, wagons and tiny cars our son got and he's still driving - now big machinery.

I remember my daughter setting her dolls up to teach them something, she's still teaching.

Warning - You may remember lots of things and now have to go shopping.

PS. What are those things where time passes by for You, that doesn't feel like work even if it is ?

Gardening painting baking writing walking drawing pottery reading knitting playing music ... Share some of yours in the comments below.

Have a great day and thank you for your visit.

It doesn't have to be Perfect

what looks good

what's art

beauty

Those seconds in time
capture so much.

Story Time.
The last several years I've taken lots of pictures and although I didn't know much about what I was doing, most seem to turn out pretty good for a point & shoot person.

I still don't know what
I'm doing and that's OK.

As time went on I tried adding words from my books to some of them and seeing it all come together is Fun and very rewarding for me - My Art.

So now when taking pictures I think more about the colors, positioning or whatever it is.

If I added words where would they go, would it look good here or there ...

Decisions we learn as we go along.

What's wonderful for me is when people at the various shows I go to ask if I'm a professional photographer.

One time a lady took about an hour or more and went through all my photo's and commented on them, also saying her Mom was a Professional Photographer and what I was doing was really good,

She told me not to take  lessons(??)

Another thing that's wonderful for me is the noticing of life nature, gardens, water & the sky.

The awareness of the moment fills me
with contentment and gratitude.

Each one seems to become a gift from the season or location which mostly now are from our yard, garden neighborhood and province.

I don't need or even want them to be perfect, just to be natural and beautiful as they are on their own that day.

I've loved travelling and living in various places and enjoyed each for their differences and gifts in the landscape, birds, flowers, crops, people, opportunities and of course the Food.

It's all taught me to appreciate and enjoy wherever Home is at the time and to notice all that it offers.

Home is,
where the Heart is

& beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

The photo's have also become another way
to send Gifts to You.

I forgot one time - and that seemed more important to my granddaughter than the Birthday cheque.  You just never know ... 💚

A beautiful song to start off this second month ...

It's always wonderful to enjoy and feel the energy of a live concert and to watch the audience respond as the musicians and singers lead us through the songs that build up into those ending moments.

We seem to cheer each other on as we merge together into the love for the songs as the words and music come together to entertain us during those special few hours.

There's many offerings of this inspirational song but since I had the opportunity to attend a Celtic Woman concert years ago I wanted  to share this with you.

The Best

The Olympics for this Summer was cancelled, but I left this song in as our starter because I think as the World continued through this pandemic and other crises we saw so many dedicated brave champions, heroes and supporters everywhere.

Let's sing to them, and to ourselves for doing our part in staying safe to help the helpers.

This has truly been a World wide
moment in time.

Remembering Rumi

February is -

 Heart and Love Month

and it continues with Rumi

Dona Anderson

My search for Love
took me back to Rumi,
13th century poet.

Celebrating Rumi, Last Class

Several years ago I had a great time being introduced to so many wonderful poems by Rumi, and listening to them being read aloud by the different voices of the class.

I enjoyed some of the poems just as they were on the surface, while others beckoned me to look further and deeper.

There can be many layers of interpretation as numerous thoughts and feelings arise.

The more read the more experienced.

Even as a beginner to these poems, some left me thinking about things, people and experiences in my own life, and some offered a glimpse of change in the way I look at things.

The last class was especially memorable.

We got to take turns sharing one of our favourite poems with the class, and then something wonderful happened.

One of the ladies brought to share the poem below.

She also brought her classical guitar and had arranged music so she could play and sing the poem for us.

For me, who had just started learning guitar, it was the best way to end this class, and let me know I was where I was supposed to be.

For me that day, it compared to a big bowl of the best fresh garden strawberries of my dreams on delicious smooth ice cream … in that moment - everything else melted away.

I sat, loved it all, and wanted more!

You & I - by Rumi

A moment of happiness,
You and I sitting on the veranda,
Apparently two, but one in soul, you and I.

We feel the flowing water of life here,
You and I, with the garden’s beauty
And the birds singing.
The stars will be watching us,
And we will show them
What it is to be a thin crescent moon.

You and I unselfed, will be together,
Indifferent to idle speculation, you and I.

The parrots of heaven will be cracking sugar
As we laugh together, you and I.
In one form upon this earth,
And in another form in a timeless sweet land.”
~ Rumi ~

Have you ever taken a course not knowing what to expect and loved it.

Sometimes I think adult learning is the most fun.

Ann - Thank You very much for creating this class which started the group on our exciting search for anything Rumi.

I still love to go on You Tube and listen to poems read aloud.

💚

As always, thank you for sharing
these posts with others around the world.
Together we're spreading Wellness,
new ideas, self care, gratitude
and much more.

Here's a song
about long lasting love.

Rumi related posts on this Blog can be seen by using the label Rumi below.

Next week ends our Heart
& Love month for this year.

Kenny Rogers - You Can't Make Old Friends (duet with Dolly Parton) [Offi...

Celebrating Old Friends

The last song for this years Summer of Music!

 Oh no 😢

Dona Anderson

Confession time again.

It's hard for me to wait to hear these summer songs so quite often I'll replay them several times to get my fix.

It may be a song to sing, dance around, have a cry, feel in my soul - you know what I mean.

This song touched my Heart when I heard it especially since it's sung by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton who I've enjoyed for years.

And, I thought it would be a great song to end this years summer of music.

It's about Friendships.

We can have many different friends that are part of what we do and practice, and I think about YOU, my visitors to this Blog for years as my friends.

And I think about the other ones who live down the street, or a hundred or thousands of miles away, and there are those we all hold on to in person -  those "old Friends" that no matter what are part of our lifetime.

I related to this song in a couple of ways.

I loved being reminded of the old friends we still have and those lost over the years that will always be part of who we are, our Memories and Stories.

And then, the song lyrics connected me to the journey of married life - the highs and lows that come along to challenge us.

The days and years that we continue to share, learn from, have a hand to hold and the special moments shared to remember and smile about.

That's just me, my thoughts.

What did it say to You?

Have a listen ... see what it brings up for you.
