Are You feeling a bit Lost these Days?

Going back in time for this Story.

Before I started Yoga I led a life full of routines - daily, weekly monthly and yearly.

I took the bus to work and home and even though the ride home stopped at a grocery store, I never got off to pick up something.

I had to get home - to see if everything was OK, the kids, the dogs, the house and then get supper and the next days lunch started.

Life seemed rushed, no spontaneity.

While our housework day changed as many times as there are days in the week, if something disrupted doing the chores on that certain day - you still had to do them and most days had something so that meant double up duties.

Only having about 4 hours or so when you got home went by very fast before bedtime and the start to the next day.  The weekends as you know were always busy too.

I used to go for lots of walks but I never really saw anything, missed little changes and even some big ones.

My husband helped me get better at that but taking time to notice wasn't something I knew much about, learned or was taught when I grew up.

Help is coming ...

In this post I want to share with you the poem Lost and Found which I wrote after I finished writing Simply, One Breath At a Time.

The book helped me grow and understand more about life, it guided me to make changes, be comfortable and the poem let me put it all together.

Through the practice of Yoga and my Writing about Breath, Body, Awareness, Connection, Gratitude and more I continued to learn about my needs, to feel and notice those parts of my life and health that were left behind, left unnoticed.

Luckily those valuable gifts of learning and growth continue throughout our life and in our later years we have the time to listen and respond.

Then as my second book came along it was time to share the poem in Moving forward from the Heart.

An introduction and the poem are on pages 11 & 12.

Now it's time to share the poem with You.

Go slowly and see what presents itself to you today and then ...

Pick one to sit with and see what you find.

  Lost and Found

"Lost myself –
found out what’s important and brings me joy

Lost track of time –
found the now in the present moment

Lost imagination –
found treasures, gifts, paradise, nature

         Lost comfort –
found softness from letting go, and smiling

Lost paying attention –
found myself choosing to be aware

Lost appreciation –
found feelings of fullness from gratitude

Lost awareness –
found time to see, hear, feel and connect

Lost my breath –
found a nourishing breath flowing within me

Lost a quiet mind –
found that I can slow down thoughts and rest

Lost peace –
found a safe place for me to open up my heart"

PS. I still love routines to keep me on track but now I can relax with them, appreciate them instead of feeling pressure and dictated to.

Now they allow me to keep time and space for the good habits I want and need to follow my goals and wellness plans.

Have a wonderful Day.

How to Talk to Someone With Dementia

Dementia

We all dread the thought of us getting it.

How do we prepare to help others or ourselves.

Dona Anderson

We also dread the thought of our spouse, a parent, friend or anyone getting it.

It's a worry in the back of our mind for years as we age.

I've heard that it can start to begin many years earlier.

This video is about communicating with Dementia and that is very important because it's hard to do as the family, visitors and caretakers.

In the video Diane Waugh gives us lots of things to do to help be part of their life now.

Very Interesting.

And as always there are many techniques and different ways to do things so this is just one for information on that path.

Most of us may know someone with or who had some degree of Dementia.

For me when I was young it was my grandmother, and as a senior I know 3 that are in care centers.

We also have a neighbor that continues to live at home and sometimes needs help getting home from his walk.

I also find it harder now with so much to remember.

How to work the remote, get on the computer, the pass words for everything, then how do the new appliances work, the camera and on and on.

We don't get the written/printed service we used to for many things so all the frustrations tend to add up.

Then there's the frequent changes that may be better for some but frustrating to others and not work for them.

There was never so much to remember.

In this video I liked how she found out how to communicate.

I hope to learn more and adopt a few of her ways as it makes things a lot easier.

Take Care.

PS.  there're lots of resources available to help us.

I think it's important to know the right questions to ask and the answers let us know we may be in the right place.

This has been a rough year.  It used to be that we knew someone with/had cancer, then came Alzheimer's and now it's covid.

Please take care.

What's your Female Story about

The Female Journey.

A look at the Ladies today.

Dona Anderson

Marianne Williamson wrote in her book The Age of Miracles ...
"Denying care to oneself doesn't translate into care for others. A women taking care of herself - both in body and in spirit - is part of her participation in a wild and wonderful female adventure.  That adventure is emotional, intellectual, spiritual and sexual."

Each one of you will have your own memories and story about being a daughter, perhaps a sister, a teenager, friend, cousin, aunt, girlfriend, fiancee, wife, mother, grandmother.

And you may have also been part of these - Health Care, Education, Science, Art, Music, Retail, Service, Construction, Farming, Restaurants, Fashion, Finance, Computers, Essential Services, Government, Acting, Inventor and the many others.

Living life means you learn, grow and become.

You learn about your inside self - what makes you tick, be happy, comfortable and excited,

You learn how to interact with others, what to say, how to dress, be yourself.

You learn about your body and all it's changes as you grow and age.

You'll learn about your feelings, emotions and thoughts - what they are and how to manage them.

You learn about the many different hats you'll wear while exploring your passions and even the things you're good at or not.

And as time goes on you'll also learn about what you like & don't like, how you love and what to believe in.

This is your unique adventure.

A huge part of this one is that your feelings, emotions, thoughts and beliefs also change over time.

That gives you thoughts and memories of Then and Now.

This is the journey of life.

The adventure and journey in each of us is unique, remarkable and built on how and where we find places to breathe, learn, share & help others.

Looking back on my adventure and journey I'm happy that life was full and now is a quiet time to reflect and breathe more deeply.

There's much to share and opportunities to create my life doing things I want to do.

This is another between time - time before whatever it is that comes later ...

and I'm going to Enjoy it.

Please enjoy Your Now time too.

“The real gift in life is in giving to others.

We have the power and the  means to make a positive difference in someone else's life every single day.

You're part of my 107,600 + Reasons

2 Birthdays this Fall,

the other is coming in November.

Dona Anderson

Thanks to You

My Blog turns 10 this month

You're my 107,600 + reasons - each one of You.💚😊

You and the other viewers around the World inspire me to keep going every week.

Over 600 Posts

Your sharing with others around the World helps me know we all have the same wants and needs to be happy, healthy and enjoy our lives the best we can.
I never imagined all that it
has become over the years.

It  was initially created for the 100 travelling books I sent out in 2010.

I just remember reading the instructions to create the Blog and I got to the point where they told me to just write something and hit the publish button - I was so scared.

Those first posts were not great and it took a few years to figure out the how and what - what I could do, how and the when.

I never imagined I would still be here 10 years later writing and sharing with all of you.

When I look back over the pages of titles, I have forgotten what lots are about, some bring up memories and a few bring tears.

Here's some info on the travelling books.

Whitney Houston starts us off on another Summer of Music

Summer of Music 2020

starts today!
Dona Anderson

Thank You for your visit and

Welcome to this years

Summer of Music

This year I've put together some great music & songs from Theater, Movies, Stage productions and more to give us a wonderful combination of Moments in Time.

Let's sing along with Power and Strength knowing
that we too share those feelings of being ...

The Best
We Can Be

The Olympics for this Summer was cancelled, but I left this song in as our starter because I think as the World continued through this pandemic and other crises we saw so many dedicated brave champions, heroes and supporters everywhere.

Let's sing to them, and to ourselves for doing our part in staying safe to help the helpers.

This has truly been a World wide
moment in time.

Take Care.

Thank You to all who shine brightly in
your own individual ways ...

Keep going on your dreams and leave room for new ones -
the ones you never thought of ...

How many Quotes do you think are on Google?

i don't know either, but

here's one I'd like to share

with you today

"When we believe in ourselves, our lives become enriched with a quiet confidence and we begin to blossom and grow with a wonderful sense of peace, well-being and joy."
~ author unknown~

Dona Anderson

Do you like quotes,
have some favorites written down on numerous pieces of paper, or on the computer - and if you're like me, some will never be found again.

This one above recently got my attention.

It felt familiar and connected me to some of my writings.

Loved it.

Photo & message by Dona Anderson

It also reminded me of an interview I heard on TV where a man said he dressed up everyday in his best clothes because that made him feel better, be kinder and gave him more confidence in himself and his career.

While listening, I remembered times when I felt that as well.

Has this happened to You?

How can one thing make such a difference.

I'm not saying you should

dress up everyday in your best clothes but how can we get that feeling.

That feeling is what you want to experience, to emulate and hold on to.

That you feel more confident, joyful, peaceful, kind and beautiful too.

That feeling, that energy is part of you, and all of us.

It's given out, and  seen by others.

It's something to hold on to.

When you're Believing in your self ...

you too will Blossom like a new flower.

Kenny Rogers - You Can't Make Old Friends (duet with Dolly Parton) [Offi...

Celebrating Old Friends

The last song for this years Summer of Music!

 Oh no 😢

Dona Anderson

Confession time again.

It's hard for me to wait to hear these summer songs so quite often I'll replay them several times to get my fix.

It may be a song to sing, dance around, have a cry, feel in my soul - you know what I mean.

This song touched my Heart when I heard it especially since it's sung by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton who I've enjoyed for years.

And, I thought it would be a great song to end this years summer of music.

It's about Friendships.

We can have many different friends that are part of what we do and practice, and I think about YOU, my visitors to this Blog for years as my friends.

And I think about the other ones who live down the street, or a hundred or thousands of miles away, and there are those we all hold on to in person -  those "old Friends" that no matter what are part of our lifetime.

I related to this song in a couple of ways.

I loved being reminded of the old friends we still have and those lost over the years that will always be part of who we are, our Memories and Stories.

And then, the song lyrics connected me to the journey of married life - the highs and lows that come along to challenge us.

The days and years that we continue to share, learn from, have a hand to hold and the special moments shared to remember and smile about.

That's just me, my thoughts.

What did it say to You?

Have a listen ... see what it brings up for you.

When You Wish Upon A Star - sung by Jiminy Cricket (Cliff Edwards)

I'm sure we've all wished upon a Star as children or even later in life.

Wishing on Stars is something like wishing
as you blow out the Birthday candles...

But we get Birthday candles only once a year!
We can look up to the stars almost every night (weather permitting)

I thought this song would be a good one to add into this years selections.

We all need some wishes and dreams
to come true ...

Do you have 2, 3 or more wish lists?

There's the if I win the lottery big one list

The when I get a good job, or finally retirement

Have my dream home or car

Get married

Pay the bills off

and on ...

Dreams like wish lists are wonderful for taking us through life's different adventures.

What are the Dreams you want to come True?

Our 3rd Summer of Music continues next week.

Visit previous selections in the archives and you can go back to July & August posts for 2017 & 2018.

What will you pick - only Seven Choices

What is your favorite day of the week?

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday

Thursday Friday Saturday

Which day is just for You?

Which is your most productive day?

Dona Anderson

Visit me on Facebook

As we've grown up and changed our lives over the years, your picks would have probably changed many times.

Is one day in the week more valuable to you for work, pleasure or family reasons.

If so protect that day and move some unimportant things to other days.

Life seems to be a real juggling act of all the things we have to do and are responsible for. So see if you can keep it more simple and focus on what you can do and what you have control over.

And, don't forget to ask for Help when you need it.

I know sometimes ...

I know sometimes other things will get in the way and changes have to be made,  but if you WIN most of the time and work towards your goals, dreams, health, family needs or whatever it is - it makes life a little easier and more rewarding.

Perhaps at the end of the day write yourself a little note to tell about all the things that went well, and thank yourself for taking the time to notice it. Imagine a beautiful box of notes or a file on your phone you can open everyday to smile and revisit those memories.

I hope you Do more of what you Love,
and Enjoy your unique Journey...

Don't forget to find a Soft & Nourishing space when it's time to Breathe in the smell of Rain.

Life Lessons From 100-Year-Olds

A Good Title

better than this one -
I learn a lot from Funerals.

Dona Anderson

Subscribe to Dona Anderson by Email

Here goes ...

I never thought of Funerals as a place for learning but I always seem to come away with something.

Something seems to stick or I'm reminded to slow down, go out more, visit,  travel or something else that feels lost or missing due to those too often used words, I'm BUSY.

I guess that's what the regrets list is about but since we're still living we have a chance to change that list about our life.

I hope we can think about this for a few minutes.

Watch the video and then let's see what we can do.

Some Things I've learned

Friends are Friends - age has nothing to do with it.

Enjoy others Friends & Family for the time they spend with you and let go of the time they didn't.

True friends come over even when they know the house is always a mess.

Try not to let bad weather, illness and old age limit visiting your family and friends. They may not be able to express their appreciation but you'll see it in their eyes, smiles and warm hearts.

Relax and just be there if that's all you can do. Sitting and being with someone else is Huge. Listening to their Stories is Huge even it you've heard it 20 times.

Can't make the old fashioned family suppers anymore - order take out. Have it delivered.  Get someone to spread it out and ENJOY!

Cherish those who enjoy and want to be with you.

Go around your neighborhood and find new friends.

Welcome those who stop by.

Invite someone over for tea, to share a meal or take them some leftovers or dessert.  Make a big pot of soup and share it.

Ask questions and find out about other peoples life, where they lived, their friends.  I have been so surprised to find out that we shared places and people with others when you ask questions.

When I grew up we didn't talk about those who passed but we have to keep them with us and remind ourselves of the good or bad things. It's good to share their stories with family. Give your kids and grandchildren some sense of their family history.

Life has changed and troubles/problems change very fast.

We all have to be appreciated and work through what is going on in our time as well as understanding someone else's time.

We all need to be loved and appreciated for just being here.

Smile and laugh lots.

Tell others you love them often so they know it in case you don't get the chance again.

One day, you won't get another chance to say I love you or Good-Bye.
