We hear those few words a lot,

and they're important ones to remember.

Wherever you see friendship, loyalty, laughter and love...they hold a free treasure.

Whenever you see the sunset, walk in a forest of trees, feel the warm summer rain, it is free.

When you see a smile, share hugs or a laugh it is free.

When you feel the love of our family and pets ... it is free.

See the spring Flowers blooming ...the stars in the sky and the birds visiting your yard - it is free.

We may not have a list handy of our favorite things right now and it can change often but what comes up for you right away?

PS.

As our world continues to go through tough and disastrous times of stress, conflict dangerous weather, violence tragedies and more, we may need to take a few moments each day to remind ourselves of those best things in our life that are free.

Take care as we head into the joys of Spring.

This is a great video about a study taken over many years that connected me to my life and ancestry list of 3rd and 4th cousins from generations of great grandparents and thinking about how they lived day to day and migrating across oceans, mountains and more.  How they found food, survived the cold stayed healthy and kept going to built there lives, family and relationships.

 I guess we're living though one of our generations tough times now. I wonder what they will refer this time to 20 years from now in the history books, and how did it shape the years after.

We all want to be happy and healthy yet often we go at it in different ways.

We want friends and family relationships but may not give it the time needed.

I hope this is helpful as we deal with all the stress of this time in our lives that will be for the future to observe.

I've listened to many of her songs but this one ...

    

So tender like the song was just written for her.

Her voice melds into every type of music and this love song felt very comforting. 

The simple location in the video added even more presence and feeling, like a spot they may have visited one afternoon for a date or quiet picnic for 2. 

I hadn't heard her voice in this type of song before and it quickly made tears come to my eyes. 

Go to the reviews on you tube to see what others said. 

They spoke of a life still remembered, loved and a sorrow felt.

Love is full of feelings and emotions to experience, and it can be different for each of us depending on what we need and how we feel.

PS.  With our busy lives full of so many things,  I hope you have lots of love in your life for the many places and people that have helped fill your days and heart.

We all go through feelings of loss, depression, loneliness at various times in our lives.

What we do with those feelings is up to us.

I don't know how she had her tremendous strength to go through what she did and then go into a profession helping others to heal from their loss and traumas.

As an older person now I've lost grandparents, parents, aunts & uncles, friends, and many pets.  

As I think of what to write my eyes are full of tears.

We don't get through life with a free pass to not have those losses.

She had so much to endure from a young age and thankfully she found ways to cope and shield herself from the many dark places that could have taken her in an opposite direction.

I've gotten to experience the many gifts of being part of a family, having a mix of friends from different times and places and hear their stories to tell. 

Our differences can often be opportunities for 

learning and sharing.. 

Our time here on earth is not known, 

lets not waste it.

Wake up Happy

How do You wake up?

Over the years and ages waking up has been quite different from those days of going to school and having to walk there, then to working, having kids and getting  lunches for all of us and out the door to getting the bus.

Now being retired and older it has changed again. Much more relaxing.

I usually don't wake up too energized because I don't sleep well and if I sleep through the night once a year I wake up startled and wonder what happened.

But within a few minutes our Westie dog Kelsie is up on the bed for her morning kisses and rubdown.

Our Scottie dog Lucy who claims most of the bed finally moves over and is taking her time to get up then they both  head to the kitchen to wait for their morning cookie. 

I hear the kettle on for my tea and in comes my hubby to get me moving or close the door and let me rest for a bit longer.

We all probably need some help at times to put that smile on our face to go out into the world - or to pull the covers over our heads for a while longer.

Tonight lets make a plan to wake up happy tomorrow saying 3 things we're grateful for. 

We could try it for a few more days even if the 3 things are the same everyday.

Let's wake up happy and make those daily choices to pause, smile, and make the changes you need to support your day and life or whatever it is.

We have to make our lives healthy for us and the world.

I thought this might be a good ending for this post.

Where did all this come from?

 It's not MY fault!

It's not all my fault.

Sometimes when you start a collection others want to help and it then it can quickly grow and grow.

That's what happened, I'm sure ... (?)

Then a friend was getting rid of this holder of treasures and asked it we wanted it.

YES YES!!! and that was over 40 years and several homes ago.

It's still loved.  A few things have fallen and broken but most are still small treasures from near and far away places. 

For many years we've been trying to downsize and wonder what's next on the list to let go of. 

Boxes and boxes of stuff has left over the years and more still to go. I'm happy to pass things on. 

And I love to go with my daughter to thrift stores and others places who support local families, animals and more looking for bargains  It's our few hours together when we go to visit. 

That's where I got this music jewelry box for $5 and it plays an Elvis song!

It will become another holder of treasures.

PS. what do we do with all this stuff that the younger family doesn't want?
