A beautiful Christmas Gift to us. André Rieu - Home for Christmas

Just in time for sitting in that cozy chair with my old favorite blanket...

Dona Anderson

I hope you love Andrés concerts too.

This is a special time of year when we're indoors, seeing the snow fall, watching those old Christmas movies or listening to your favorite songs again and getting together with family.

The concert above is awesome so Enjoy and share with your family and friends as well.  We all need some good entertainment to help us relax and feel like normal life has returned again.

It just might be one that becomes your every year treat.

PS. I got to go to the movie theater several months ago for a new concert the orchestra performed that absolutely filled me with joy. The audience in the movie didn't want it to end and neither did us watching.

Honestly I don't think the musicians wanted to leave either but they must have been exhausted.

I'm hoping Santa brings me the DVD for Christmas.
André Rieu Happy Together.

Is it Autumn or Fall

Whatever You call it, it's coming soon.

Dona Anderson

It's getting to be that time of year as the leaves started changing colors and we started to hear the geese gathering and flying over head a few weeks ago.

Fall used to be my favorite season but Spring took over after we moved to where we live now.

Both are special and colorful.

I found this music version of Autumn Leaves for us to enjoy today and sing along if we can remember the words.

Yes, I had to ask google as I could only remember the first few words.

The words feel sad but this interpretation feels fun and lively.

Great group of musicians.

Autumn Leaves🍂with Breeze (violin,cello ,piano&jazz drum)

PS. After the heat of summer the cooler breeze's of Fall start to feel good and I'm waiting for more leaves to change color.

It's starting to feel like fall though when I get out to walk in the shaded forest. It feels nice to see space starting to open up again and later will be the softness of the leaves as I walk.

The leaves above I picked up last year and brought home.  I had enough for a couple of vases for the house  - I may do it again this year.

I hope you enjoyed the video too, the violin player is great!

That's it for today.
Take Care and have a great day.

(Both pictures in this post are from last year.)

PSS. We never know how a day or week will change the world.

We got to experience that this last week with the death of Queen Elizabeth. I got to see her years ago when I was little and she visited my city and we got to wave at her in the car. I'm sure their are millions of us with  a similar memory and I loved seeing the changing of the guard in London years ago.

But Time changes everything.

It reminds us to enjoy and celebrate  life, help others, be kind and help the planet - the only  home to all of us.

Memories of June

"Give every day the chance to become
the most beautiful day of your life."
~Mark Twain~

Dona Anderson

So much to love about June.
What are some of the ones on your list.

I thought of a few that may be or were in the
past to help get us started.

*June is often a month of many Weddings
* There's Fathers Day
* The Summer Solstice makes it the first month of summer

* School Finishes
* Many Graduations from kindergarten to Universities
* Summer Holidays - Yes! it's about time

* Going to the lake/cabin, don't forget your bug spray
* Birthdays in June have 3 birthstones to choose from and 2 different Zodiac signs depending on your date of birth

* Flowers & Gardens are growing while we wait for that first pick
* Birds were singing and busy making nests
* Sitting outside in the Sun and not realizing the time

* A summer rain to freshen the air
* Watching the clouds, sunsets, moon and stars
* A walk in your neighborhood, forest or walking trail

I hope You connected to some of these ...

Relax, be gentle with yourself & feel connected to the words Earth & heart -
they both have the same letters just in different places.  😀

PS. Take Care and I hope Your June has been full of many beautiful days.

Let me sit for
awhile in
this place where
the sun is warm
and
roses bloom ...

Time-Lapse: Watch Flowers Bloom Before Your Eyes

Spring is Here!

YES.

Love this video.

It's amazing to watch the time lapse flowers and to see the changes as they bloom.
Beautiful.

Dona Anderson

I always feel that our spring starts early as some of the flower bulbs start growing in late December and sneak above ground for a month or so until they start getting bigger when it's warmer.

We had more cold, snow, rain & wind than normal over the winter so good to see these ones brighten our yard and spirit. Photo left March 22, 2022

Is Spring one of your favorite seasons?

Gifts from our garden last year.

Have a great week and new posts every Tuesday.

Love that the birds are more active
now and singing lots during the day.

PSOne more for you today is a few lines from an ancient Navajo Walk in Beauty Prayer. It certainly fits into the gifts of Spring.

"With beauty before me I walk
With beauty behind me I walk
With beauty above me I walk
With beauty around me I walk
It has become beauty again"

I can't wait - Today we're off to Finland

Here we go ...

you won't be disappointed.

Welcome to week 2
of  my 2021, Summer of Music.

Dona Anderson

Last weeks video was wonderful and week 2 takes us to various places in Finland to experience the sights and different seasons.

Beautiful winter scenes, animals, a camp fire I thought would be nice to join in, then those precious bear cubs, and birds taking that first dive out of the nest.

I thought those winter cabins would be great to cuddle up in and watch the northern lights.

 A big WOW.

All this with the amazing David Garrett playing the violin.

Loved it and hope you will too.

PS. WE may not be able to take those vacations yet but we can see these beautiful places that help us to relax, breathe and enjoy our beautiful world.

Take Care and have a good week.

Another video for you next week.

No - I don't want to Say Goodbye to Summer

September 1.

Seems like overnight
Summer came & went

but now it's time to look forward to the colors of Fall.

Dona Anderson

Summer is almost over and for me it always feels done once September begins.

It's kind of the timetable for getting back to our regular life again but 2020 has not been normal for any of us.

We don't know what normal activities will return or what they will look like.

Our lives have been changed and we will need to be patient and hope for the best.

I do hope you enjoyed the selections for this years Summer of Music.

It's always FUN for me to pick them.

Quote by Maya Angelou guides us into Spring!

Wonderful words of Wisdom ...

MY Photo - Love Vancouver Island BC

"The happy heart runs with
the river,
floats on the  air,
lifts to the music,
soars with the eagles,
hopes with the prayers."
~Maya Angelou~

It's the Perfect time to share this quote.

Our Spring season starts in a few days and it's already an exciting time of year.

We have a gradual arrival to spring over several months as new flowers appear and I always love when it's cherry blossom time.

It's getting warmer out so the Rivers will be happily flowing as the winter snow melts in the mountains.

The Air is mixed with the scents of Spring flowers as they take their turns blooming in a rainbow of colors

Music is all around as the birds start singing to let us know it's morning and they seem to be happily welcoming back their friends after the winter away.

And I'm sure our Eagles are busy getting nests ready.   I always love to see them high in the sky or resting in a tree.

Our Heart is happy!

Thanks for your visit today.

It's amazing how fast the year is going but I always love Springtime here.

Lots of flowers to come over the next few months, lettuce is growing in the green house, gardens being prepared and more daylight. 💚

GARDEN in your DREAMS

Starts with ...

"Let me sit for awhile in this

place where the sun is warm

 and roses bloom ..."

Dona Anderson

I was outside one beautiful day in late July and decided that the colors of the flowers and vegetables in the yard that were so lovely would be my pick for the Winner of the Garden this year.

Have a look back at this post from May about the garden picks for previous years.

Later as I sat on the deck the Meditation titled Garden in your Dreams, page 63 from my book Moving forward from the Heart started to appear in my mind.

It's about a special garden and although I didn't refer to it as a Chakra Meditation in the book, it goes through all the colors of the chakra rainbow.

The second paragraph says

"As each breath gently fills and opens your senses, begin to visualize a dream garden full of flowers, vegetables, fruit, trees, soft grass and a pond. Birds come to visit, good friends come to visit, and it's here that every day is a really good day.

It then takes you around the yard to connect to all the different colors, to see, smell & taste some and to rest and connect to others.

That's what I was doing that day.

Relaxing in a garden full of happiness and renewal

A place for friendships and memories

A place where you can dream,

and let everything else gently fade away.

Here's some of what I got to see

Red - petunias, gladiolas, geraniums, roses, berries, pears, beets, tomatoes, peppers
Orange - gladiolas, nasturtiums, lilies, other flowers, carrots, peppers
Yellow - sun flowers, squash, roses, other flowers, beans, peppers
Green- grass, leaves, lettuce, cucumbers, beans, peppers, basil, herbs
Blue - sky, other flowers, pond, Hydrangeas, pansies
Indigo - Hydrangeas, pansies, lavender, other flowers, berries, gladiolas
Violet- Hydrangea (I have 6 of them) dahlias, roses, other flowers

Besides the seeing - there was definitely a lot
of tasting going on.
Sorry -
I don't remember the
names of the other
flowers from the
garden center.

What's your garden about?

Have a wonderful day and please
visit again soon.

When it's fun it sometimes feels like Cheating

didn't think of this before ...

I love my Yoga mat!

I hope you do too!

Many of the great benefits and opportunities of yoga are found through letting the yoga mat take us to different places.

Whether it's to simply focus and breathe, create stillness, be strong like a mountain or fold to release we go places and do things that are just for us to feel, enjoy, experience and each time is unique.

Every time I reach for my yoga mat I think about what will happen in my practice that day. What do I think my body needs or  should I just let the mat tell me ... it usually always wins!

When I finally began yoga in my very late forties, I quickly learned more about how my body didn't work.

I remember being tired and hoping/asking if the guided relaxations could be the whole class.

Later on I started trying to find ways to relax myself at home and those days when I couldn't stand, sit or walk, I got out the couch cushions and blankets to build myself a nest.

I didn't know it at the time but I was doing some restorative yoga poses.

I will always be an ongoing beginner.

I go slowly and am open and happy with whatever comes through that day.

The following is a meditation about a Yoga Mat

Really it is and don't get upset for the lonely mat, it's OK.

It is timed for our return to fall activities after a summer break and I hope you connect to its sense of union which the word yoga comes from. Enjoy!

Forgotten – One Yoga Mat

When the warm days of summer take us outside to other activities or on vacation, we sometimes take a break from our yoga mat.

Instead of travelling to our yoga class or the gym, they stay rolled up leaning against the wall, in the closet, or buried somewhere in our vehicle.

They’re put out of our minds for a few months.

The pleasing colors of green, pink, blue, purple, yellow, and red that were our close companions during the rest of the year are left unused, forgotten.

When we do get a glimpse of the lonely mat we think, maybe later or another day.  It’s too hot, or I’m busy right now.

The mat doesn't complain, it knows you are taking a break and will return eager to begin again.

Where else can you immediately find a place to honor your body, a place to build and feel strength, awareness and balance.

It's a place for your body to breathe and soften, a place for your mind to find stillness and peace, and a place for your heart to find courage and compassion.

This small mat gives us permission to open up
 to possibilities and choices.

It gives us a place where we invest in ourselves and create an awareness that we can take out into the world.

It is a place where the gifts are endless and lifelong.

When you’re ready – Welcome Back!
