Wonderful Summer Festivals right here at Home

Comox BC has it all this weekend!

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

Nautical Days & Filberg Festival - 2 Places to Be this Summer!

I'll be at Nautical Days this weekend for the 3 day festival August 2-4, and the forecast is for Hot and Sunny!  The quiet park in this picture will soon be full of tents, arts and crafts, goodies, music, people, food and fun!

Dona Anderson
I'm looking forward to setting up the tent and connecting with all the great visitors, listening to music, and watching what I can of the activities.

I even go off my (sometimes) healthy eating just a bit but don't say that too loud ... French Fries please!

At the shows I'm a vendor, I hand out samples of my wellness card messages.  I have had so many wonderful connections with people through this exchange.  It gives them a chance to stop and chat, and in the past 4 years I've given out over 2150 cards just at this event and listened to many heartwarming stories!

This year, I'll be bringing along with me
My book - Simply, One Breath At a Time
CD - Permission to Rest
Card set - One Rose Wellness Cards
New for 2014 - I'll be sharing that the news
that Simply, One Breath At a Time
is now available as an eBook!

I hope next year I will be introducing Moving Forward from the Heart my second book!

Check out these links for more festival information.  If you're close by, please come and visit.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

The Five Tibetan Rites - The RIGHT Way, Anti-Aging Tip from Ellen Wood

What are the Five Tibetan Rites?

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

 Never Heard of Them?

If you'd like learn more or try out this sequence of 5, keep reading!

I shared this last year and thought I'd send it out again for those who missed it. I like this video version as it's slow and music is great.  Other versions may be a bit different  and faster so check out different ones to find out which one you like best that suits your age, body., and health.

When I started doing the 5 rites, I  did just a few and then gradually built my way up especially with the first spinning one, I did this one quite slow.  I slowly increased my count over a few weeks and got to 14.  Some where I read to aim for multiples of 7 (Chakra related) going towards the maximum of 21.

I used to have link to more information but over the years they change so I'll let you find ones at the time of your search.

You'll recognize these as yoga poses but it's fun to call this sequence by another name. It is a great  mini home practice, only 5 poses to remember.

The Five Tibetan Rites - Have fun!

Updated May 2021.

I hope you'll share with friends or even with your yoga teacher or class.
It's always fun to try out something new!

Once Upon a Day... Cowichan

Vancouver Island Celebrates Summer!

 Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

It's fun to share with you today a bit about our part of the world.

This video is from Cowichan which is a couple hours south of us here on Vancouver Island, off the west coast of British Columbia, Canada.

We're also celebrating our summer as the garden is filling out and changing each week.  As usual every year has more or less than other years so we're still waiting to figure that out.  Our pear tree had flowers and then no pears, so I guess it is taking the year off to grow bigger and stronger for next year.  I'm loving the blueberries, and the blackberries are starting to ripen.

The tomatoes are also ripening and there is a farm a few miles from us and other farmer's markets to get whatever else we need. My husband is already happily sharing tomatoes with the neighbors, and I just remembered there's yellow and green beans that we have to eat!

It's very yummy to get all the fresh produce in the summer for as long as we can!

I hope you enjoy this little piece of our paradise in this video!

Have a great weekend and take care!

Are you ready to lose stress, relax and breathe?

65 guided scripts for Relaxation and Meditation...

Change Lives Including your Own!

Bringing your practice to Life

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson
Dona Anderson

The Fall season is fast approaching and many of us are busy planning and scheduling a return to fall activities.

Simply, One Breath At a Time, can be part of any home practice, wellness program or as a training resource. It offers 65 guided relaxations to refresh your body and soul. It gently soothes and eases you into wellness, relaxation, meditation, gratitude, mindfulness, stillness, quieting thoughts or just being with the breath.

Think of yoga teacher training and the new students and teachers taking Simply,  away to use in their own classes, or how it would strengthen a yoga students home practice. And, it would be a valuable resource for caregivers and so many types of stress reduction, wellness, meditation and recovery groups and programs.

Energy work such as Reiki Level One training focuses on self healing and sharing with family and friends.  Reflexology also promotes self healing. Simply, would be a wonderful addition to support any training package or to be available for clients to supplement their ongoing wellness and stress reduction.

Whether you're just starting or already practicing you'll enjoy the variety and use of simple words and thoughts to help reduce stress and encourage self care, presence and awareness.  It can go anywhere and be used by anyone interested in bringing wellness into their own lives, or sharing to support the lives of others.

Imagine hearing words like "Because you can, start to see and feel the beauty in you, your uniqueness, your powers, your strengths ..." or this "As you rest, discover that being your true self is all you need to be ..."

"Simply let your breath Breathe you ..."

Namaste.

CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD

Neale Donald Walsch

Conversations with God, the Movie

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

I had the wonderful opportunity to see Neale Donald Walsch last night July 17, 2014 at a 3 hour talk at an ocean resort not far from home.  It was amazing!  I am still speechless, and Wow seemed to be the first word we could say at the end.  A wonderful, gracious, and approachable speaker as he sat in a big comfy chair only a few feet away from the audience with only a microphone.

I knew very little about him and his many books, and then I listened to his interview at the Hay House World Summit 2014.  He definitely peeked my interest in how we can all work together to get along and how we can easily start to see things differently. I guess you can say he did more than peek my interest, I was crying at the end. (weeping really)

In the Hay House Summit interview he mentioned Conversations With God, The Movie so I watched it a week ago to give me some more information about him.  It is quite an interesting story of how he began writing his books and last night he referred to how his life has changed so much.

I

This is just the start of my listening, reading, and learning more from him!

I hope you enjoy the Movie!

10 Tips/Ideas for leaving a comment!

Comment? What do I say?

10 Tips/Ideas for leaving a comment

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

This is not just about catching up with your friends on Facebook etc it's more about those other websites and blogs you subscribe to, visit, or happen upon when you click on  a link or the words read more.

It may seem weird that I write this post and share it with you when I have a comment section at the bottom of my posts, but there are many times I too would like to say something about a post I've connected to for some reason and I'm not sure what to say. Often if I notice someone else has already said what I might have said,  I might like it or just move on.

I want to get better at this because the writer of the post needs to know about the audience, what they appreciate and find of value.  A lot of time can be spend writing many of these posts or searching for things and the comments may be the only form of acknowledgement or appreciation received by the author on the other end.

This brings me to my list of Tips/Ideas - I thought I'd share with you my first go at a list of things that I wrote out for me!  (Maybe, we can learn together!) These may not fit the places you visit but they can give us a place to start from and we can change our list or add more as we go along. (?) are for whatever you would use here.

10 Tips/Ideas to try out:

1/ express about how the blogs consistency in the information/entertainment/creativity etc is why you continue to visit and take the time to read/look at the posts

2/mention what it is you specifically like and appreciate about this current post

3/say something about how this or another recent post tugged at your emotions (?) or seem to reflect upon your life

4/mention the writing communicates kindness (?) and how the site feels like a place for community or friends to visit or share

5/mention how you notice many stories are generous of spirit or giving of information (?)

6/say how you got boosted up, found humor or it reminded you of something past

7/mention how (?) brought something special to you and your life

8/say thanks for sharing more about (?) because I enjoyed your previous posts about (?) and I wanted more information

9/ask how they decide what to write about or if they will be writing more about whatever it is you like

10/ and a Thank You, Great Post, or a Like is very appreciated as well

I hope this helps as each post is as different as its author. This is just a start at what your comments could be about and I think if we are interested in something we read and do find out it is special, inspiring, informative etc to us in some way that we may want to also take a moment to show our appreciation.  Maybe it's our form of an offering, a smile, payment, or just the sharing of a simple connection.

Or how about the video and Poem about how people come into our lives for a Reason Season or Lifetime.

You can even send the emails to yourself if you want to save certain ones in a folder to revisit.

And there's more, you can Tweet and Pin, or if you're a Blogger you can start a new post or save it in draft for later!

Coming soon - I've been working on a new post about writing comments. I often want to say something but maybe not sure what to say. I AM THAT, I AM - A two-part meditation by Dr Wayne Dyer

I Am That, I Am , Dr. Wayne Dyer

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

I'm a big fan of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer and watch all his PBS specials many times and have several of his books.  It was even better when I got the wonderful opportunity to see him earlier this year in San Jose California, at the I Can Do It Hay House Event.

I invite you to listen to this sound meditation video when you have time that Dr Dyer introduces to us.

Check it out and you might want to save it for a quiet evening or a day off. I found it very relaxing and it's one that I will listen to and enjoy many times!

Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

I'm also going to share it with my yoga class and wellness circle!

Do you know anyone you'd like to share it with who needs help relaxing, sleeping or does meditation?
