I'm off to participate in Comox Nautical Days Festival.

I enjoy being at this 3 day event as it is family friendly and we get visitors from around home and beyond. There's lots of food, events, and entertainment.

The weather has always been HOT and this year it's suppose to be ........ not too HOT

YIPPEE!

I don't do well in the Heat so I'll have a big container of water and a spray bottle of water to cool myself especially my feet.

Each year I've attended the festival as a vendor, I've handed out One Rose Wellness card samples. It is a wonderful opportunity to introduce myself and talk with others.

The conversations are as varied as the people.

Some of it might be what they're eating, where they're from, where I'm from, or books they're reading.

Some tell me about current life difficulties, health and of course lots of talk about yoga, meditation and other wellness practices.

I have a couple of ladies who come to get a new card each time they see me and they love it.

Now that I have 2 books - I'm asked which one they should buy.

The first time I was asked that I hesitated for a moment.

I don't know why I never thought about being asked that question so I hadn't thought about an answer and it felt uncomfortable.

I felt like I was comparing which of my pups I liked better or something similar. You know what I mean.

Take Care & Have a great weekend !!

I'm not available for this event and I know lots of you won't be either so lets think about compassion and peace and how we can bring more of it into our own lives and interactions with others.

To help us, here is a meditation from my new book Moving Forward from the Heart.

Enjoy!

One Hug
There’s one hug and a breath waiting!

It’s waiting to be found as you soften to let go of stress, let go of struggles, and let go of thoughts.

Allow any distractions you experience to move through you, and use your breath to bring the mind home to this present moment … allow only thoughts about relaxation to be in this moment.

Notice what is happening within and around you as you open up your arms wide to give yourself a big hug … gently rub or pat yourself wherever you can reach on the neck, back, shoulders, and arms … really feel the hug … feel both parts, the giving and the receiving … feel the comfort in being present right now.

Stay here a bit longer to just breathe one breath at a time … breathe in feelings of connection, reassurance, acceptance, love … breathe in feelings of safety.

Slowly return your arms to their resting place and let your body and mind settle again … let your next breaths fill your whole body with feelings of peace and calmness.

Begin to focus on the center of your heart and allow it to be full of a wondrous bright white light that is beaming with joy, and wants to sing out to the entire world … the songs of the heart are of love, courage, hope, compassion, and gratitude.

Remember your hug, did you feel these feelings, did you feel this fullness, this singing of your heart.  In your heart songs you’ll hear words about beauty, smiles, warmth, and forgiveness, did you feel these in your hug … did you feel the magic of your life?

As you stay resting, you can also hear honesty, wisdom, and understanding in the words of your heart songs, and you can let this moment lead you further into a place of nourishment and restorative healing.

Visualize the beautiful light from your heart moving now through your body and spreading your songs.  Embrace the energy of the light and the words, embrace the feelings of your songs as they circulate within and then around you.

Is there some left to give away, to offer out to others?  You can send others your heart songs to help them also come to a place for nourishment and restorative healing.

One hug and a conscious breath have connected you
to your heart and out into the world …

One hug and a breath opened you to
what is precious, what truly is important
and to what truly makes all
our hearts light up and sing …

~ Enjoy a period of relaxing Meditation ~

Oprah's The Life You Want Weekend

Oprah Wows the Audience

Oprah's Weekend Event

Oprah said,
Together - we rise!

Last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to go to this two-day event in Seattle and take a journey to again visit connection, gratitude, intention, resilience, things that matter and present moments.

Oprah and her Trail Blazers Mark Nepo, Elizabeth Gilbert, Rob Bell, Iyanla Vanzant and other guests shared stories, meditations, and we were doing lots of dancing and even exercising.

We looked at what we want in our life, what our life looks like today, and visions for the future.

Oprah quote "Create the highest, grandest vision for your life. Then let every step move you in that direction."

Everyone's vision will be unique to them and a reminder take away for me was that we are to live our life not someone else's.  Our life is for our dreams, visions, and goals.

Our life journey is for us to experience and share.

We have the choice whether to keep telling and experiencing old thoughts and stories or create and start new ones.

It is our journey to find out what matters to us, and what we want to take forward.

Oprah said in a paragraph from our workbook "Every moment you have the choice to open up ... to listen to the whispers and live the way your life is nudging you to live ... to walk boldly on your own life's path."

Are you living the Life You Want?

What are your dreams, visions and goals?

What comes natural to you, what feels like work?

Connection. Intention. Choice. Experience. Purpose. Journey. Moments. Life.

Question for YOU to Answer!

What is most important to you Right Now?

Answer - Your next Heartbeat ... Your next Breath

You'll get both and Relax - check out the Guided Relaxation below!

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

I know a lot of things will go through our minds when we hear that question but if we don't have  another breath and a heartbeat, nothing else matters.

I was an exhibitor at a Women's Show on the weekend where I was reminded how wonderful it is give out samples of my One Rose Wellness Cards and have that connection with the visitors.  I shared with one person about a lady at previous show who picked the message below and then told me she had a bad heart attack and how true the message was she happened to pick.

"Say to yourself, the rest of my life begins with my next breath ... "

I took a few pictures of my table and thought I'd share this one with You!.  From Simply, One Breath At A Time the guided relaxation titled,  A Heartbeat.

A Heartbeat, from Simply, One Breath at a Time

Please give yourself the gift of a few minutes to relax and connect with your heart and your breath.

After spend a few more minutes in stillness and when you're ready have a nice stretch and come back to the rest of your wonderful day.

And yes, that's me on the other page at the Beach with Chloe and Tilly!

Comments appreciated.

I hope you took a few minutes to relax! ENJOY the rest of your day!

It is funny how the book page that I had open and took a picture of worked with the conversation I had about the lady and her message.  I guess I was just suppose to combine it somehow to tell you this story ... Bye for now!

Wonderful Summer Festivals right here at Home

Comox BC has it all this weekend!

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

Nautical Days & Filberg Festival - 2 Places to Be this Summer!

I'll be at Nautical Days this weekend for the 3 day festival August 2-4, and the forecast is for Hot and Sunny!  The quiet park in this picture will soon be full of tents, arts and crafts, goodies, music, people, food and fun!

Dona Anderson
I'm looking forward to setting up the tent and connecting with all the great visitors, listening to music, and watching what I can of the activities.

I even go off my (sometimes) healthy eating just a bit but don't say that too loud ... French Fries please!

At the shows I'm a vendor, I hand out samples of my wellness card messages.  I have had so many wonderful connections with people through this exchange.  It gives them a chance to stop and chat, and in the past 4 years I've given out over 2150 cards just at this event and listened to many heartwarming stories!

This year, I'll be bringing along with me
My book - Simply, One Breath At a Time
CD - Permission to Rest
Card set - One Rose Wellness Cards
New for 2014 - I'll be sharing that the news
that Simply, One Breath At a Time
is now available as an eBook!

I hope next year I will be introducing Moving Forward from the Heart my second book!

Check out these links for more festival information.  If you're close by, please come and visit.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Spreading gifts of wellness...

One Rose Wellness Cards

How they Began

Roots to Breath, Dona Anderson

A few years ago after Simply, One Breath At a Time was printed and I was doing some group library readings, I wanted to end that special time with all of us participating in something together. So I started pulling little messages from Simply, and putting them on paper so each person could pick one, share it with the group if they wanted, and then take it home with them.

This started what later became my set of One Rose Wellness Cards.

I have the regular set of 105 cards all looking wonderful in various colored organza bags, and then I repeated the same messages in a set for sharing with people at shows.  I put the messages on a few different colors of paper so they can either just pick one or pick from the colors.  I ask those passing by if they’d like a wellness card, some say no, but most say yes, and it is usually the start of a smile coming to their face as well.

Some pick a card, say Thank You, and read it as they continue on their way but most people stop and read it, smile, say Thank You, and so many say this is just what they needed or it is so true for them. When groups are picking they all read each others message and have fun together.  Many people like to stay to chat for a few minutes, some have shared their stories of sadness, and some talk about wellness changes they’ve been making in life.

I really enjoyed it this summer when one little boy came behind the table and asked for a card, and needed one for his Dad as well.  Recently two young teenage girls told me about how stressed their mothers are when they came home from work each day, and some tell me their card from the last time I saw them is still on the fridge and being read every day.

This year I have given out over 2100 of the individual wellness cards, and I hope these little messages will reappear from the bags, pockets, and purses to be read again another day...
