Look up to the stars - what do You see

The Stars make me Dream

"I don't know anything with certainty, but seeing  the stars make me dream."

~Vincent van Gogh~

Here's a little clip from a post back in 2019

Story time - I have to tell you about one night years ago we got up around 2 am to watch the stars.

We had the blankets and pillows all ready to lay outside and hope for something special to happen.

The dogs came out with us and after cuddling awhile and wondering why we weren't in bed, they started to walk around and ended up they both had a big smelly poop close by.

Well that wasn't the special thing we had
hoped to happen that night
.

After getting up and a few laughs we went back to bed.

Summer seems to offer us those special times to stay up later and feel young again with our kids and grandchildren.

Rolling down the front lawn or a splash of water at the beach on someone always gives us a chance to play even in an unexpected way.

Perhaps the extra glass of wine helps too!

I don't have any memories of having fun with my parents or grandparents other than a card game we played at Christmas so it's a special time for me to be part of, to learn from and definitely want to do more.

PS. Those remember when family times are important
for sharing & saving.

Take Care as we continue to make
our way through 2022.

I hope you're having a good day and there's
something that will make it special.

A nap sounds good to me.

Thanks for your visit.

Four ways to live a better and happier life

I liked the different approach he spoke of in his Tedx Talk

It may help more of us go back to feeling our own happiness again after these last few stressful years.

TEDxSydney Living Better and Happier.

Dona Anderson

Thank You Dominic Price and check out the reviews from others for this video. Very well received.

If some of us have been struggling with a few of these areas in past years, this video may help.

Productivity & profit
People
Planet
Purpose

It's funny how life leads us on different paths and we can't predict our future even if we think we're doing all things right.

I enjoyed this video as it helped me connect to different times in my life.

In thinking about these 4 topics I kind of slipped back to memories of my parents and grandparents too.

Productivity & profit - I don't know if they were happy or not. We didn't ask those questions back then.

We didn't have many people around so not sure about that either.

The uncertainty and stress from previous wars, hardships & illness in their life seemed to linger heavily and I'm sure it affected the next generations as well.

Did they feel productive or that they had a purpose - I don't know that  either ... it seemed to just be a time for work and to do what you had to each day.

Now, Productivity & Profit in my later life are measured in different ways than years ago. Keeping happy, active & healthy are very important.

Health is Wealth

People in our life has changed many times due to us & others moving to various places over the years.

We have special friends in our heart and lots of great memories of people, places, meals together, travelling and we're always happy when family visits.

I hope Play is included in this part as it's important to have fun, be curious, creative, laugh and explore.

When it's shared with others it's even more enjoyable.

Friends are great to have and to be.

Planet - the state of our Planet has become More & more critical in many areas and is a concern that we all need to do what we can to help.

Each day gives us an opportunity to help in some way.

Every little bit counts.

Purpose as we get older it can be harder to feel. Often we can be limited in some areas but many of the adults and seniors here are busy walking, have dogs, golfing, volunteering, making crafts, taking courses, gardening, travelling, fishing, going to exercise classes, and spend time at the senior centers for music, choir, cards, friendship and more.

I'm glad that after we moved here I got involved more with Yoga and other wellness activities that led me to writing which includes my Books and Blog.

As I felt the benefits of what I was doing and learning I wanted to share it to help others.

I think Purpose is a special Gift we give to ourselves
whatever it may be for You.

Often when we're asked to give a number between one & 10 it's hard to say how much do you include in that one figure.

How do you pick whether it's 7.5 or 3.9. So this -1, 0 or 1 seemed to be quick and not stressful.

Now if I do my score I feel good saying number 1 to 3 things and zero to one while knowing that these numbers do change at various times over the years and they will again.

PS. the area I scored a zero in I've been aware of for a couple of years and I guess covid and a few other things gave me an excuse to not work more on them.

Sometimes when we put things in writing it helps us work on it more so here goes.

Bye for today.

Love that little teddy, hope he pops up in many other places.

Take Care.

One more for you today

A beautiful song from Enya to carry us through the week.

We're welcoming the fall Equinox in a couple of days as we notice the sun rises later in the morning and signs of fall all around us.

As nature changes through the year we get to enjoy all it has to offer us. It maybe different than last year but it's all there for us to breathe in, feel its comfort, magic and explore.

Is it Autumn or Fall

Whatever You call it, it's coming soon.

Dona Anderson

It's getting to be that time of year as the leaves started changing colors and we started to hear the geese gathering and flying over head a few weeks ago.

Fall used to be my favorite season but Spring took over after we moved to where we live now.

Both are special and colorful.

I found this music version of Autumn Leaves for us to enjoy today and sing along if we can remember the words.

Yes, I had to ask google as I could only remember the first few words.

The words feel sad but this interpretation feels fun and lively.

Great group of musicians.

Autumn Leaves🍂with Breeze (violin,cello ,piano&jazz drum)

PS. After the heat of summer the cooler breeze's of Fall start to feel good and I'm waiting for more leaves to change color.

It's starting to feel like fall though when I get out to walk in the shaded forest. It feels nice to see space starting to open up again and later will be the softness of the leaves as I walk.

The leaves above I picked up last year and brought home.  I had enough for a couple of vases for the house  - I may do it again this year.

I hope you enjoyed the video too, the violin player is great!

That's it for today.
Take Care and have a great day.

(Both pictures in this post are from last year.)

PSS. We never know how a day or week will change the world.

We got to experience that this last week with the death of Queen Elizabeth. I got to see her years ago when I was little and she visited my city and we got to wave at her in the car. I'm sure their are millions of us with  a similar memory and I loved seeing the changing of the guard in London years ago.

But Time changes everything.

It reminds us to enjoy and celebrate  life, help others, be kind and help the planet - the only  home to all of us.

How did You survive Covid?

Hello and welcome to September.

What will be our life after covid?

I hope it will be smooth and easy ...

What did you discover from all the time at home, away from travelling to work, going out for activities, shopping, to movies and whatever your pre covid routine was about.

I think a lot of us discovered those little things that nag at us, things you'd want to change, get rid of and ...

For some of us we never had that amount of time before to be inside at home, with our family or by ourselves.

What did You discover?

I had my little list before and some of that arose again and some were replaced by other things.

Some were important and others not but were still ones easily brought up to complain about or kept silent below the surface.

We've all had a lot of stress, concerns, worry, loss, anger, frustration and so on  from too many places that even those small changes can be stressful.

We may have our lists and do we ask others what's on theirs?

Do we even want to know?

Have you ever interviewed yourself to find out what your dislikes are about?

What would your friends say about You?

What bugs You?

What do you want your life to be about?

Who are You now?

My book Moving Forward from the Heart offers 73 unique meditations to support you to relax discover your own true self and celebrate life.

And click on the label Moving forward below.

PS. The first meditation is titled, So Much More to see.

The last one is titled, You became the beauty.

💗💗💗

There's so much more to see.

Eva Cassidy

Amazing Vocal and guitar both!

Dona Anderson
Week 9

While gathering these videos I came across one of Eva's.

I had not heard of her before but after a couple of minutes
I was hooked.

Have a listen.

She left  many beautiful songs for us to enjoy after her passing from cancer at a young age.

Her talent was a beautiful Gift to us and I hope if this is the first time hearing her music, you will check out more of her songs.

Her voice, guitar and unique arrangement fill the soul.

If you have tears you are not alone.

Did I see the word Tango?

Yes here it is, The Tango scene

from the movie Scent of a Woman

Dona Anderson
Summer of Music
Week 8 of 9.

today we off to the Movies!

What are some of the movie scenes You remember

Ones that stood out that you remembered years later for the acting, story, music or ...

Sorry - I don't do scary, violence or too sad movies so I won't be writing about them.

This one came to mind for something different from all the songs so far this year.

Love to watch this scene and there're many great reviews.

I didn't remember all the line but loved it when she said she was afraid to make a mistake he said to "just tango on."

That's probably what a lot of us have been doing these past few years.

Do your best and just tango on.

One more week to go for this years Summer of Music.

I hope you've enjoyed the selections over these past 2 months.

Thank You for all your shares each week that go off and connect to others around the World.

India Arie - I Am Light

I am Light.

India Arie - I Am Light

Dona Anderson

Summer of Music
Week 7

Beautiful words to share this week.

Hi,  I hope all is well for You today. I found this inspiring song and immediately saved it for our Summer of Music posts.

I thought the words were important for us to see, hear and feel when we're frustrated, stressed worried or sad so I've shared just some of the song below so we can start to say them when you need to, like a mantra or in meditation.

The video is wonderful.

In listening, I felt like her voice was coming from a soft cloud overhead and the added voices of the choir brought all those feelings deep inside to build up courage and strength to be able to catch that light, to open up and let go of what you need to.

Let's open those doors, windows and let the light in.

Have a listen and see which lines you connect to.

As I said above, this is just a few of the lines ...

"I am not the things my family did
I am not the voices in my head
I am light

I'm not the mistakes that I have made
Or any of the things that caused me pain
I am light

I am not my age
I am not my race, my soul inside is all light
I am light"

PS. I don't know if I had heard this song before but I checked it out when I saw the title.
Finding a mix of music this year has been really interesting and I hope you're enjoying the selections so far.
All previous posts are in the Archives so you can visit or save them anytime..

Susan Boyle - I Dreamed a Dream (Audio)

Today we have
Susan Boyle.

and the beautiful song from Les Misérables

I Dreamed a Dream.
Dona Anderson

Summer of Music
Week 5.

As children we had many dreams, some lasted a day or maybe till tomorrow.

As little ones we often were asked what do we wanted to be when we grow up.

When I was young the world didn't change much over the years but now things change so fast. Some good and some not.

Many dreams are attainable now with doors opening, new technology, for those being older, women working, support and opportunities for disabilities and much more.

This song is healing and allows us all to Dream while knowing things can change and sometimes that offers another dream that's the one right for You.

PS. what are/were your dreams?

What are the ones you still have for the future.

Some people go back to college at an older age, some as they age finally have the time to start a new career, one they wanted to do, or finally have the time to go fishing or travel.

Some want to garden, learn new skills like in the arts or theater, play an instrument, or maybe for you it's to volunteer, write songs or children's books.

They can be everyday things - dreams let you do what you want to do or never even thought of that you enjoy & love where time flies by and doesn't feel like work.

Listening to Susan sing this song so beautifully and then go on with her career gave us all the opportunity to Dream again.

Thanks for your visit today and
it's week 6 already next Tuesday.

Love it when you share with others at the links below so we continue to travel around the world. (my Dream)
