Remembering Rumi

February is -

 Heart and Love Month

and it continues with Rumi

Dona Anderson

My search for Love
took me back to Rumi,
13th century poet.

Celebrating Rumi, Last Class

Several years ago I had a great time being introduced to so many wonderful poems by Rumi, and listening to them being read aloud by the different voices of the class.

I enjoyed some of the poems just as they were on the surface, while others beckoned me to look further and deeper.

There can be many layers of interpretation as numerous thoughts and feelings arise.

The more read the more experienced.

Even as a beginner to these poems, some left me thinking about things, people and experiences in my own life, and some offered a glimpse of change in the way I look at things.

The last class was especially memorable.

We got to take turns sharing one of our favourite poems with the class, and then something wonderful happened.

One of the ladies brought to share the poem below.

She also brought her classical guitar and had arranged music so she could play and sing the poem for us.

For me, who had just started learning guitar, it was the best way to end this class, and let me know I was where I was supposed to be.

For me that day, it compared to a big bowl of the best fresh garden strawberries of my dreams on delicious smooth ice cream … in that moment - everything else melted away.

I sat, loved it all, and wanted more!

You & I - by Rumi

A moment of happiness,
You and I sitting on the veranda,
Apparently two, but one in soul, you and I.

We feel the flowing water of life here,
You and I, with the garden’s beauty
And the birds singing.
The stars will be watching us,
And we will show them
What it is to be a thin crescent moon.

You and I unselfed, will be together,
Indifferent to idle speculation, you and I.

The parrots of heaven will be cracking sugar
As we laugh together, you and I.
In one form upon this earth,
And in another form in a timeless sweet land.”
~ Rumi ~

Have you ever taken a course not knowing what to expect and loved it.

Sometimes I think adult learning is the most fun.

Ann - Thank You very much for creating this class which started the group on our exciting search for anything Rumi.

I still love to go on You Tube and listen to poems read aloud.

💚

As always, thank you for sharing
these posts with others around the world.
Together we're spreading Wellness,
new ideas, self care, gratitude
and much more.

Here's a song
about long lasting love.

Heart & Love Month continues

I watched many PBS concerts years ago and loved how
Mr  Pavarotti enjoyed singing with every style and variety of great singers.

I even bought the taped concerts to play on weekends with the volume turned up and had fun singing and dancing around the room to many of the songs.

Have a listen and see if you can get your groove
on for a few minutes and Valentine's Day is just a few days away.

Tracy Chapman's voice is so smooth - love it.

We got to attend a Pavarotti concert in Edmonton Alberta many years ago.

What an exciting time.

Another thing on our list of wonderful  experiences to remember.

All this month we're thinking about our Hearts with some Love mixed in so I hope you'll come back for next week - someone said Rumi is visiting this month.  Is it next week?

My Way (Charity Single) By Margaret Mackie & Jamie Lee Morley #OurStory ...

Alzheimer's Awareness Month

Dona Anderson

I saw this a few days ago and thought it would be lovely to share.

Thanks to the various experts and campaigns for Alzheimer's Awareness month there is more information on the various types of dementia and more personal stories being shared to let us learn from, understand and give support.

Music has been found to help support their day - the songs of their generation, Christmas carols, Classical music or whatever it is.  It can be calming, comforting, and let time pass being more relaxed.

It's important that others get to share in those moments, a time when we can all forget about the disease and just focus on the present to enjoy the precious Gifts they leave us ...

This video is one. 💚

a Magical Gift for us to hold in our hearts.

Take Care.

Coming up next week.
February is my Heart & Love Month
be sure to visit for Music, Rumi and a
Message from the heart starts it off.

Pelvic Floor Relaxation Exercises for Pelvic Pain

Realizing the Importance of something we do all day long.

Dona Anderson

A few months back I was having some pelvic pain on and off over a couple of days.

I had been been exercising the day before but just doing what I usually did.

Couldn't figure it out so I spent some time online searching for what was wrong and if I was going to ...

No Drama or Stress here ...

I guess a lot of us do the Google searches for reasons and symptoms

Luckily I was feeling Ok the next day.

Thank Goodness.

Anyway through my searching I found this video which reminded me to use my breath which helped me to relax the pain and spasms.

So OK, really this was not funny.

WHY - Because I use breathing techniques for opening my body in Yoga all the time for years but in my discomfort, I didn't think about it when I needed it.

I hadn't thought about it for relaxing the muscles, the rest of my body, and especially my mind.

Luckily it went away or my next step was - a visit to my Doctor.

I thought I'd share my story and the video if you want to watch it or save it for a resource.

What reminders do you use to support your health.

Take Care.

Coming up in February -

it's time again to soothe our Heart

The photo below is of an excerpt on page 83, and you'll find the full meditation on pages 124-125

It begins by offering us time to breathe, relax, connect to our self and answer a few of life's important questions and in the second last paragraph you'll find this ...

Enjoy.

breath to help you breathe freely...

accept this moment as a special place in time

to connect with yourself and the world ...

What a Wonderful World | Playing For Change

Another One of my favorite Songs

You'll love it too!!

Dona Anderson

Cheerful. Happy. Colorful. Fun.

It is a wonderful world!

If  you've visited here frequently you will
have noticed I have Many Favorite Songs!

Can't help it - so much to like.

If you're still in the New Years' spirit or just want to stand up, sing and dance around - please go for it.

I did a few times, and it's great for just letting yourself move and sing to let go of Stress and get your Smile on.

We really need all of us together singing loudly and protecting our Wonderful World before it's too late.

Change is happening so fast ...

Thank You.

Needing a few more moments to soften,
breathe and let your heart sing.
from last summer.
Enjoy.

Let's send prayers out to Australia
and others in need of help.

I listened and fell in love with it all over again. Song first recorded in 1967.
